World's Waste is...

...An organization whose purpose is to disseminate knowledge on waste on a nonprofit basis and internationally. Through information and education, we want to create a change in attitude and behavior around waste management.

We work from the thesis -

that knowledge can change behavior

It is our goal to help future generations to have a more sustainable approach to waste.

Through teaching, they become aware that they have a choice -

at school, at leisure and at home.

We collect, process and disseminate knowledge to teachers and students trough digitalized teaching material.

In World’s Waste we draw attention to the importance of providing school students across the globe with knowledge and teaching on waste.

Trough teaching, students become aware of their own impact on the world’s serious waste challenges and consequences.

In World's Waste Organization we believe in community –

across countries and continents - and that our strength is to stand together.

By strengthening international networks, knowledge and inspiration can circulate and benefit more people.

WHY IT MATTERS

Knowledge of waste and proper waste management have a significant impact on the extensive waste pollution, including plastic pollution of the world seas and the global climate challenge facing the world’s countries.

The target group for Learn About Waste are teachers and students at primary and middle school level (Elementary school) across the globe.

The teaching material at Learn About Waste is based on the students daily lives at school and at home. By giving the students an understanding of waste and proper waste management including sorting, resources and recycling based on specific, thematic issues in the students everyday lives. The students gain an insight into different norms about waste and awareness of their own waste behavior - and thereby they gain an understanding that waste is everyone's responsibility.

Change is made by individuals who are motivated to do something differently.

Inspiration is contagious and you never know what one small conversation can lead to.

Citat, Lauren Singer

OUR BELIEFS

The World’s Waste is everyone’s waste     …and everyone's responsibility.

We must work together across countries and continents to achieve:

  • Citizen involvement through information and education
  • Responsible production
  • Responsible waste management and recycling industries
  • International environmental requirements and global standards

We believe in sharing knowledge with each other

Knowledge sharing across nations is about making the best use of existing and experience-based knowledge to promote responsible waste management.

Multidisciplinary knowledge sharing provides a great diversity, inspiration and holistic understanding that can lead to new knowledge and development.

We strengthen multidisciplinary and international networks where knowledge and learning circulate and benefit more people.

We believe in caring for the Environment, Nature and Humans

We work for the

  • Respect of People and the Planet
  • Protection of Animals and Nature
  • Human health and mental well-being
  • Human right to clean drinking water and non-toxic crops and foods

OUR GOAL

Mission: To provide knowledge and inspiration for action

Vision: To put environmental education on the world’s school schedules

We want to help reduce the amount of waste globally. By making school students aware that everyone has a responsibility and opportunity to influence existing waste management and treatment, we enable students – together with us – to change current waste behavior. In doing so, we put together a new framework for how waste will be handled in the future to promote a sustainable life for next generations.

We work with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals – and have a particular focus on:

  • Sub-goal 4.7: To teach sustainable development and global citizenship.
  • Sub-goal 12.2: To use and manage natural resources sustainably.
  • Sub-goal 12.5: To significantly reduce waste.
  • Sub-goal 12.8: To increase understanding of sustainable lifestyles.

World’s Waste is run by volunteers, goodwill ambassadors and a dedicated team - that all contributes to reach the organizations goals.
